Which one is better – Remington, Panasonic, Braun or Phillips?

Most of the time people get confused when it comes to deciding upon their choice among the big four names of electric shaver. This is because every top shavers and brands often offer similar features and functions. And they get confused whether to choose Remington, Panasonic, Braun or Philips?

Of course, there are many factors to consider based on your consumption needs and requirements on how to choose electric shaver. Getting the right electric shaver is not an easy task for many. But then we all have these ‘common set of questions’ that we seek for an answer while buying our shaver. We all look for comfort, convenience, closeness and build quality with our shaver.

Any veteran will understand that these manufacturers follow particular trends that are different from each other. Some brands are more into build quality while another one may be known for clean and close shave, and so forth. Let’s check out some of the characteristics and traits of these top brands.

Keep in mind that while doing the comparisons you need to consider matching up the ranges. For example, we can’t possibly compare low-end Panasonic shaver to high-end shaver from Philips.

Alright, I know that some of you would disagree with my outlook towards these brands but we can’t possibly all have one common choice. Isn’t it? Here are my studies:

Comfort is an important criterion for us to choose our shaver. We hardly or never opt for electric shavers that are not comfortable and convenient. Braun electric shavers are considered the most comfortable shaver. It is German Engineering at work and at its best. Then we have Panasonic, the much preferred Japanese technology followed by Philips and Remington. Philips is from Netherlands and Remington from United States if you must know.

Panasonic high-end models such as Panasonic ES-LV81-K Arc 5 and Panasonic ES-LA93-S Arc 4 shaver’s linear motor deliver 14,000 cycles per minute which is the fastest so far. While Braun Series 7 which is the best shaver from Braun uses 10,000 cycles per minute. The mid-end models from Braun have 8,500 CPM which is in line with Remington FR 730 and F5 series.

The sequence for closeness goes like this – Panasonic, Braun, Remington and Philips. However, Remington is closest if you are buying shaver with motor speed of around 8,500 CPM range.

I understand your concern if you are a fan of Philips or rotary shaver. Philips got excellent rotary shavers and worthy of being top of the line. But rotary shavers in general are not as efficient as foil shaver when it comes to closeness.

Having said this, no one will argue about Philips for a quick and very quite shave. And when you try out Philips Norelco SensoTouch 3D you can expect complete and close shave too. Moreover, if you like wet shave there is no reason you’ll not be enchanted by this shaver.

Build Quality

I had come across mediocre shavers from all brands except Panasonic. Braun was struggling for more than a decade with their Syncro Series which was a mediocre shaver. Philips got similar stories and Remington had been struggling for long with quality issues until recently. As for Panasonic they had never built mediocre shavers till date. Panasonic shavers are marvellous in terms of quality and technological innovations.

So, the sequence is – Panasonic, Braun, Philips and Remington.

Value for money

Now, if you are in a tight budget and will do just fine without the bells and whistles, then you can rely on Remington shavers. Remington shavers are 2 – 3 times cheaper than its competitors. When you pick your shaver carefully with Remington you might as well find the best deal on the market.

Philips and Remington have wide-ranging low-priced and mid-priced shavers. Panasonic and Braun are more into the mid-priced and high-priced shavers.

Obviously it goes without saying that you get what you pay for. But if budget is an issue and you are to choose among the four brands the preferences is Remington, Philips, Braun and Panasonic.
